Death Trick: Double Blind is a point-and-click brain game where you solve a murder in a travelling circus. You play an amnesiac detective and a magician, searching for clues and asking questions to each quirky performer to poke holes in their stories and uncover the truth. It stands out for the challenge of searching for contradictions between people's stories, and the way the investigation changes based on where, when, and who you question each performer with.

NotesAccessibility Notes

The controls in the game are simple, with only a few different inputs needed. That said, remapping is not available at all. Rapid presses, holds, simultaneous inputs, and precise reactions are not needed at any point. Despite needing to solve the mystery by midnight, time does not automatically advance; rather, you move to the next hour once you've used up all your actions for the hour. This means that. Although there isn't a time pressure, you can still reach midnight and not have solved the mystery, adding some level of pressure to your decisions.

There are no difficulty settings. You can save at any point, even mid-conversation. There's also a log which shows conversation history that can be accessed, both from the dialogue box and the pause menu, at any time. Hints to help you identify contradictions are on by default, although they can be turned off.

Text is high in contrast and can be adjusted in size, but even on the largest setting, it's still less than 1/20th of screen height in most cases. The text speed can be adjusted, and you can choose whether it automatically advances or advances with input.

The game is quite open-ended, which can make deciding what to do at any point somewhat overwhelming. You're free to go to different locations, change characters, and ask different questions, with little guidance on what would be the best approach, as deciding on this is the primary challenge of the game. You can look at clues and evidence you've gathered to help you keep track of where you are in the investigation.

The opening animation of the game has some flashy effects in it, which could prove disorienting. During regular play, backgrounds are static.
