Dragon Age II is an action role-play game with an emphasis on combat and player choices, and a sequel to Dragon Age: Origins. You play a refugee-turned-leader in the medieval fantasy world of Thedas, exploring to make allies and use powers to defeat enemies. It stands out for how it retains the original's player choice but with greater emphasis on strategy and combat, and a new narrative that expands the scope of the world.

NotesAccessibility Notes

Controllers are not supported on in PC version of the game. On PC, you can remap your controls and have two buttons per action. You can also invert the X and Y axes and adjust the mouse sensitivity. Holds and simultaneous presses, as in the first game, are needed for some actions.

When you adjust the difficulty, which you can do at any time, you primarily change the intelligence of your opponents, not the amount of damage you deal. You can also pause the combat at any time and use the "tactical camera" to get a clearer picture of the threat, as well as give yourself a moment to think.

Text and subtitles are generally quite small and can also be low in contrast. The colour of different textual elements also indicates what it is in relation to, and there are no colourblind modes available. As in the first game, all dialogue is voiced, and you can select how much is subtitled, although these subtitles can also be small, from just the main dialogue to background chatter. The Conversation History feature from the first game was cut in the sequel, so there's no way to look back at what has been said.

You can highlight interactable items around you with a button press. Motion blur and depth of field can both be disabled.

You can turn off blood and dismemberment by deselecting the 'Enable Persistent Gore' option in the settings.
