Play Overview
You play Shan, who attempts to heal her fragmented family of powerful beings. You explore the world for clues about your relatives, gradually piecing together a family tree that helps you understand each person better. You learn bitter and painful truths as you hone your skills with your voice and your legendary sword. Each confrontation with one of your siblings is a battle of both weapons and words, and based on your choices, can end in reunion or disaster.
Play involves running and jumping through the world and attacking enemies with your sword in fast-paced combat. Landing blows charges up card-based actions you can use to turn the tide in your favour. Progress results not in new abilities but in filling out your family skill tree. Each new detail adds a card for use in either combat or conversations. Fights with your siblings combine fighting with talking, and based on your choices and what cards you play, the way they unfold is vastly different.
The result is a heartfelt game that explores family dynamics and the pain of a broken family in a nuanced way that reacts to your choices. The novel way you unlock powers through learning about your family tree encourages exploration to find every detail, making for a deeply engaging game.
