Play OverviewPlay Overview

Croquet Conundrum (2024) is a traversal puzzle about completing croquet courses in a small number of hits. Play involves deciding the direction and distance of each shot so you don't run out before you get to the exit. It stands out for the simple premise that slowly evolves with balls, terrain and hazards with a clever tip system always on hand to help.

The basic challenge is to get your ball through each hoop and then out of one of the pipes. However, you only have two strokes to do it. You can gain extra strokes in a variety of ways - by going through a hoop, hitting other balls and so on. This becomes a sequencing puzzle as you must work out the right order to minimise lost shots and get to the exit.

As you progress you work around a map of interlinked croquet islands. Sometimes you return to a previous island to access a different exit. You also discover how the routes between islands are interlinked and affect each other.

The result is a puzzle game that doesn't get tough too quickly and offers a set of welcoming undo and tip features. Still, solving even the early puzzles feels like a victory and is really satisfying.
