Play OverviewPlay Overview

Desvelado (2024) is a cute running, jumping and sequencing game where you must turn off every lamp in your haunted mansion while enemies keep turning them back on. Play involves planning and executing routes through hazard-filled rooms to extinguish all the lamps before patrolling ghosts can relight them. It stands out for its sequencing challenge, where you must move quickly and think outside the box rather than make pixel-perfect jumps.

You play Vampy, a cute vampire bat who can't get any sleep until you switch off all the lamps in his mansion. Each room contains numerous lamps that must be off for you to progress. You extinguish the flames by simply moving past them - but the catch is that enemies relight them in the same way. Extinguishing a red lamp provides a useful dash that lets you move faster or reach otherwise inaccessible lamps and platforms.

At first, enemies do not kill you but as you progress things become more deadly. Enemies are deadly and levels contain spikes, acid, crumbling floors and even rising lava. Then there are lasers you must toggle on and off to change enemies' movements and switches that alter room layout. You can find hidden bonus rooms that you traverse to find your skeleton friend's missing bones, giving reason to keep playing after beating the main game.

The result is a route-planning platformer all about figuring out the pattern of the enemies' movements and using that to visit the lamps in a strategic order. The visuals are cute and hand-drawn, and along with the spooky sound effects create an atmospheric experience.
