Play Overview
Gladio Mori (2024) is a hand-to-hand fighting game where injuries are realistic, so you need to outwit your opponent with a fencing-like strategy. You carefully manoeuvre into striking distance to land blows on key parts of your opponent's body without getting struck, cut or impaled yourself. It stands out for how damage is realistic and you are vulnerable to even simple injuries.
It's a combat game with slow-motion fights, organ-specific damage, and community-generated moves. You learn to use different razor-sharp weapons to cut down your enemies or die trying. At first, the temptation is to rush in but you soon learn that caution is as important as aggression.
The game's depth is in how it models the damage you inflict. Weapons and armour are realistically simulated so you can't slice through armour and need to learn how to find weak points in your opponent's defences. If your muscles are cut or damaged you have less strength in that part of your body to move or attack. If a key artery is cut, you are likely to bleed out. If a vital organ is pierced, your death soon follows.
The result is a game without the usual focus on health bars and button combinations. All you have are simple controls and the bloody damage you see on your hero.
