Play Overview
Kletka (2024) is a stealth traversal game where you work with friends to descend deep into the earth using an elevator that is trying to eat you. You survive by feeding the elevator with food found on each deadly floor as you descend deeper. It stands out for its mix of proximity chat and maze-like floors that require you to use forward thinking before you inevitably get separated.
Set in a dystopian megastructure, you play a convicted criminal sent to the Kletka company. To complete your sentence, you must descend all 101 floors of the structure and use the objects you find along the way to fend off hungry anomalies. However, the elevator is alive and requires frequent maintenance and food - and eats you if it is still hungry. It's brilliant at creating a sense of teamwork that unexpectedly ends in disastrous encounters.
Progression is determined by how efficiently you defeat anomalies and delve deeper for more rewarding loot and items. Gather enough food and tools and you can skip floors to avoid the risk. Working as a team enables you to search for specific items from spanners to DIY pellet guns. However, the proximity chat limits communication creating tense situations of chaos.
The result is a game that's as much about cooperation and communication as it is about holding your nerve when the horrors show up. Making the right decision about how to support each other, and how much food and items you can get back to the elevator with, are just as important as quick reactions.
