Play Overview
Leaving Home (2025) is a traversal puzzle game about getting up and leaving your house in the morning. Across different rooms that look like they're straight out of a Picasso painting, you shift patterns on the carpet and reorder drawers, while you also get ready for the day. It stands out not only for the unusual hand-drawn art style but also for the way it takes the (often miserable) weekday morning routine and creates engaging brain-teasers from it.
Play involves working your way through the different rooms of your house as you prepare to leave for work on one of those days you'd rather just stay in bed. In each abstractly designed room, you solve puzzles to progress, from re-ordering the cups in a cupboard to rotating patterns on the carpet to cleaning your pet's paw prints from the floor. As you play, you gradually piece together the details of your life through the minutiae you encounter.
The result is an engaging puzzle about making the environment mirror the feeling of lethargy and low energy. Working through these chores may sound dull, but it's cathartic for the character you play, and maybe you as the player as well.
