Play extends Lego Builder's Journey with a two-player challenge to solve Lego-based puzzles by building various structures and contraptions. You and a friend play as two tiny Lego bricks that set out to fix a spaceship. Your adventure takes you through many environments, including jungles, factories and rivers. Along the way, you must work with your friend to solve puzzles by using your Lego brick nature. You snap onto different bricks, building bridges and other inventions to access new places.

As you progress, the locations and puzzles you encounter teach you the value of friendship and the importance of working together. The gameplay itself often reflects this by asking you to coordinate vehicles like rafts as a team to navigate tricky terrain.

This results in a unique game, setting aside combat and conflict in exchange for an experience that connects players in a cutesy, Lego-built world through puzzles and teamwork.
