Play OverviewPlay Overview

Liar's Bar (2024) is a strategic communication game where players try to get away with deceiving each other while playing simple games to be the last man standing. You play card games, talk to each other, drink cocktails and make conversation, however, failure has lethal stakes. It stands out for how statistical decisions and social deception are both essential to get away with cheating, bluffing and double bluffing.

Set in an American bar, you play one of four animal characters, each desperate to win. You win the round by guessing the correct number of dice (like Perudo) or high cards played (like Cheat). However, the players beside you can call you out whenever they want. Each player receives a gun which if they guess incorrectly they have to use on themselves in Russian Roulette style.

Progression is determined by how quickly you can take out your opponents while using subtle communication to your advantage. It's a challenge to make statistically intelligent choices about how high of a guess to make. But it's as much of a challenge to detect when other players are making false claims. The tension increases as each player dies because it becomes harder to get away with lying.

The result is a game that's as much about creating a persona to fool other players as being good at playing the odds. Statistically intelligent guesses are useful, but so is reading other players' behaviour.
