Play OverviewPlay Overview

Militsioner is a surreal adventure where you race for a train to escape a Russian city under the watchful eye of a giant policeman. You can freely explore the city and interact with its civilians and the policeman, plotting routes and manipulating relationships to aid your escape. It stands out for the enormous policeman who monitors your every move and how the open interaction with him enables you to deceive, evade or even woo him to escape.

You play a wrongly arrested citizen and must get on a train to escape the city. However, the authorities get angry, pick you up and interrogate you if you get too close to the station entrance. There are many ways to work towards escape, such as offering gifts to civilians for favours, stealing tools to break into the station or even romancing the giant policeman to prevent allay anger. You can talk to anyone at any time and then choose from several possible phrases which change their mood and behaviour in future interactions.

Every person in the city works around a routine depending on the time of day, even the giant. As you progress you learn to work with this, stealing at night when the policeman is asleep or keeping him awake so he sleeps during the day instead. By exploring as much as possible, you can find and assess a range of escape routes, giving you the best chance for success.

The result is an atmospheric and creepy game that offers freedom in play-style, enabling you to choose stealth, manipulation, crime or communication as aspects to focus on. The giant ever-watching policeman is designed to tell a story about life in Russia, exploring ideas of power, authoritarian states and responsibility.
