Play OverviewPlay Overview

Monopoly Go (2023) is a strategic social battle game based on the Monopoly board game. To play you roll dice and land on properties, but you don't buy them. Instead, you aim to earn money and upgrade your city. It stands out for combining the popular board game with the base-battling antics of Clash of Clans.

You use your roles to move around the board landing on properties, chance, community chest and so on. But rather than buying what you land on, you instead win money that enables you to upgrade the landmarks in the home city you are building. This, in turn, adds houses and hotels to your Monopoly board enabling higher earnings. When you land on a Station, you choose another player's city to attack. If you do damage without being blocked you earn more money.

As you progress you can take on daily tournaments, mini-games and events. Once you upgrade all your buildings on one board's city you move on to the next board theme (Antarctica. Las Vegas. Egypt). Another motivation is collecting the stickers, treasures and buildings to perfect your city. You can also target other players to get revenge on your friends if they've previously raided your city.

The result is a game that is simple to play and satisfying to progress. Although it's free to start, progress is slow unless you spend money to earn dice. But provided you can resist spending more than you can afford, it offers a fun social distraction.
