Play Overview
Moons Of Darsalon (2023) is a retro running and jumping adventure where you must rescue lost miners and lead them back to base. Play is an unusual combination of your own jet-pack, and laser-gun exploration alongside finding and commanding the miners who use their intelligence to interpret what you tell them to do. It stands out for the combination of chaos and destruction you create, through which you hope to emerge with a rescued team of miners.
Teams of miners got lost on the different moons of the planet Darsalon. You head to the moons to lead them to the safety of their base station. Play involves exploring the side-on levels with your character who has tools like a torch, jetpack and laser gun. When you encounter any of the miners you can issue different commands to get them where they need to go - follow me, go left, go right and so on.
As you progress you learn how to use the tools at your disposal and persuade the miners forward. Sometimes it's as simple as providing light with your torch. But as things develop you need to consider how to get them across jumps, through doors and around hazards. Later on, you even get to pilot ground and air vehicles, destroy terrain, and create new terrain.
The result is a Commodore-64-styled save-them-all platformer that plays somewhat like Lemmings. Only here, you are involved in the action and can direct the lead the team directly. It's a challenge that is as much about forward planning and careful instruction as it is about jumps and jet packs and lasers.
