Mycopunk (2025) is a co-operative shooting game where you join a ragtag squad of odd robots and use your weird weapons to rid the galaxy of a deadly fungus. Play involves traversing the world in a race to kill waves of enemies before they use the planet's technology against you. It stands out for how you can shoot off enemy body parts and deeply customise your weapons with what you collect.
You work with three other players in a squad of robot rejects, hired to exterminate the planet-wide fungal catastrophe. You pick from an array of weaponry and power tools that can be supercharged via the grid-based upgrade slots. It's over-the-top, outlandish fun that comes to life as you work with (try not to shoot) the other players on your team.
As you progress, you work out the best builds to cover the basis with your team's abilities. Along with the frantic shooting, there's real strategy in which upgrades you choose, and getting them to fit together (Tetris-like) in your weapons grids.
The result is a game that balances silly shooting fun with friends with a surprising level of customisation and types of enemies.
