Play OverviewPlay Overview

Neon White (2022) is a fast tactical shooting game where you use Soul cards to gain special attacks and moves. You play an assassin handpicked from Hell to exterminate demons in Heaven to earn your place there. It's unusual because of its combination of mechanically challenging traversal and clever combinations of the cards for timely abilities.

Play involves choosing cards to take on each level. Along with the shooting and survival, the clock is always ticking. Get your card combinations right and you can find shortcuts to earn the fastest times.

The result is a fast-action game that is as stylized as it is unbiblical. But as you progress you slowly realise that you knew the other assassins in a past life.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Neon White 20 months ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated a year ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for moderate violence, use of bad language and scenes of a sexual nature. Violence against human characters is infrequent and unrealistic. These characters take many hits to be defeated and their deaths are not depicted visually. Violence against non-human characters is more frequent. However, when they are shot, hit with swords or struck with explosives, they simply break up into shapes.

The game also includes use of bad language, such as '*!@?*', '*!@?*' and 'Goddamn'. There is a bleeped use of strong language ('*!@?*'). There are moments of sexual innuendo, including a character discussing another's 'measurements' and a character's jealousy when somebody is near another character's crotch.

Skill Level

12+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Younger players require perseverance and good timing, however, it's not as impenetrable as it first appears.
