Play Overview
Nubby's Number Factory (2025) is a sequencing pachinko game where you work at a number factory with one task: to make big numbers. Play involves picking different ways to adjust the mathematical rules of the pegboard to set up chain-reaction scenarios that generate large scores. It stands out for the moreish high-score chase along with the retro web-game visuals and tone.
You start by releasing your spherical Nubby ball down a pegboard to score points. Each peg hit scores its current value and halves the number of the next hit. So far, so Peggle. But here, the challenge is how you can customise the mathematics to earn more points. By selecting a combination of 50 different interrelated items, you invent different ways of racking up ever-larger numbers.
As you progress, you learn how to hit your quota for each round. This might be to use the Flamethrower to pop a random peg and pop 8 nearby pegs. Or how about Jake the Snake, which doubles the score of every peg? Or maybe the Rubber Chicken item that launches an egg missile to explore a group of pages. That's not even mentioning the special pegs that earn gold or trigger chain reactions.
The result is a game about building a number-making engine of logarithmic proportions. It's fun to mess around with, but it comes to life as you come up with feedback-scoring loops that massively increase the numbers you are scoring.
