Play Overview
Odinfall (2025) is a frantic shooting game where you survive the apocalypse but must now defeat the robot god Odin. To play, you blast your way through enemies with ranged and melee weapons in the hands of your Viking hero. It stands out for the bizarre techno-viking combat that adds a Swedish twist to the familiar combat-upgrade grind.
You pick a Viking-themed character, each with specific abilities, to take on hordes of mutant rats, zombies, ice giants and other enemies. You have powerful, upgradable weapons (swords, axes, guns and crossbows) but the sheer number and escalating attacks of the enemies soon defeat you.
As you progress, collected coins offer weapon upgrades. Completing levels, grants experience that levels up your character stats. Once you die, you lose your weapons but your character can go again with their enhancements. This gameplay loop repeats until you are (hopefully) strong enough to defeat the final boss Odin.
The result is a game about movement and shooting. Picking the right weapon upgrades helps on your current run, but really it's about gaining experience to develop a character strong enough to survive until the end. It's all wrapped up in a bizarre mix of Norse mythology and a dystopian future to create a unique and action-packed challenge.
