Play Overview
Old Skies (2025) is a time-travel point-and-click adventure where you work as a field agent for a company that lets customers visit the past to change their future. You accompany clients on these journeys, gathering information and solving puzzles to help them reach loved ones, revisit lost memories, or rewrite past tragedies. It stands out for how you gather intel across timelines to piece together who people are, what they have done, what they will do, and judge the butterfly effects of your actions.
You play Fia Quinn and travel through time to visit different dates in New York City, from the 19th century to September 11th. You search the screen with the cursor for points of interest and talk to people to learn about your surroundings. What starts as simple tasks, such as helping a boxer meet her childhood hero, quickly escalates into complex dilemmas, including suicide prevention and armed robbery. Things inevitably go wrong, and dying is part of the game; the catch is you can rewind time to try again with your new knowledge.
As you progress with each adventure, you solve puzzles that require you to pay close attention to clues in dialogue and the environment. When you hear a name of interest, you can look it up to uncover information about that person's life, including things that haven't happened yet, which you need to progress the mission.
The result is an introspective game that's just as much about joining the dots of a story as it is clever time-travelling puzzles. This all plays out in distinct time periods with morally complex decisions that must balance historical integrity against personal empathy.
