Play OverviewPlay Overview

Popucom (2025) is a cooperative running, jumping and shooting game where you tactically shoot certain colours of enemies to unlock the way forward. Rather than bullets, you shoot coloured goo that destroys anything in the world when it connects three of the same colour. It stands out for the unusual way this colour-matching is used in combat and solving puzzles to find the way forward.

Play involves working with up to three other players to traverse the levels and defeat enemies made of coloured blobs of goo. You can change the colour of your character to change the colour of the projectiles they shoot. By shooting an enemy's colour at them, you can create groups of three matching colours that then destroy them.

You need to use this mechanic both for defeating enemies and to help you unlock the way forward. You may need to lower a platform by destroying a certain amount of goo underneath it or raise it by adding more. Figuring out how to overcome each scenario is part of the fun and requires experimentation. Sometimes, you need to assign the team asymmetric roles to progress, such as one person keeping a door or platform unlocked while another moves forward, or all shooting different colours to take down huge enemy groups more efficiently. Communicating and working well as a team is essential to success.

The result is a game where teamwork and communication to solve problems are just as important as shooting or platforming skills. Figuring out how to use your abilities to overcome each new obstacle is lots of fun, made all the more so through playing with your friends.
