Play Overview
Recur is a time-bending running and jumping game about using your powers to alter reality and escape the apocalypse. As you traverse the world, you affect how time flows - run forwards and it progresses, move back and it rewinds. You must use this power to carefully position yourself, and the objects of the world, to find a route to freedom.
Set in a European city, you play an everyday postman at the end of the world. To escape, you must use your time-altering ability to create a path through the world. Perhaps you need to run up a collapsing tower. Maybe you need to right a derailed train.
Progression is determined by how quickly you can solve each platforming problem whilst using your abilities to your advantage. In this way, it's a challenge that combines physics and timing. As you master the varying puzzles you slowly discover what is really going on and who caused the end of your world.
The result is a shift from the classic platforming game that focuses not just on jumping and precision but the timeline of how each platform moves. It might look cartoonish but requires considerable logic and forward-thinking.
