Play OverviewPlay Overview

Sedap! (2025) (meaning Delicious! in Malay) is a simulation game where you collect ingredients to use in dishes at your food truck. Designed to be played with another person, one of you goes to fight creatures and gather ingredients, while the other crafts and sells different dishes at the truck. It stands out for incorporating traditional Southeast-Asian cuisine into a fantasy cooking adventure.

You play a pair of food lovers who travel to an island and set up a food truck to sell delicious dishes. Play involves gathering the ingredients for your recipes and using them to create meals to sell. One player stays at the food truck and takes the role of the Cooker, who makes the food by cooking, chopping, and combining the ingredients, while the other player is the Hunter, who travels the island in search of ingredients to use. Communication between the Hunter and the Cooker is essential to coordinate meal prep and provisions.

To gather ingredients, you harvest them from different plants and animals, which you defeat using your sword. As you travel further afield, you encounter new ingredients and more dangerous animals. By equipping different charms and weapons, you become more powerful and can take them on. Gradually, you fill out the list of ingredients and expand the number of recipes you're able to cook, adding them to the Makanomicon recipe book. The dishes are all inspired by traditional Southeast-Asian dishes from the developer's native Singapore and the surrounding areas, from pineapple-fried rice to ondeh-ondeh.

The result is a game that combines cooking traditional dishes and adventuring to great effect. Working together to create new dishes fosters communication and makes for engaging asymmetrical gameplay loops for both players.
