Play Overview
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes And Punishments (2020) is a puzzle game where you work to solve six different cases: murders, missing persons and thefts. To do this you talk to witnesses, inspect crime scenes and take advice from Dr. Watson, Inspector Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes, and even your dog Toby. It stands out for creating the feel of stepping into the shoes of the famous detective.
Once you have taken on a case you work to gather evidence and build a picture of what happened. How you do this is up to you. Interrogate your suspects, inspect objects, solve simple puzzles and scan people for clues. You then connect the evidence in the novel deduction area to (hopefully) solve the crime.
As you progress you make decisions about how to spend your time, and who you think is guilty. Your choices on how to proceed not only impact solving the crime but also the lives of the characters you meet. Because of your reputation as a world-class detective, you exert influence on how events are seen. At the end of each investigation, you make a moral choice of whether suspects are guilty.
The result is a detective game full of detail and character. Whether or not you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, there is plenty to enjoy here. It's a deduction game that doesn't rush and lets you build your own conclusions from the evidence you find.
