Space Scavenger 2

Space Scavenger 2 is a shooting game where you build a modular spaceship on the hoof to escape galactic powers. Play involves repeated runs where, similarly to the first game, you navigate and customise an agile ship equipped with both triggered and automated weapons. It stands out for how you work to expand your tiny craft with weapons and gadgets that synergise with each other in search of effective combinations.

Set in an alien-infested galaxy, you play a spaceship commander tasked with defeating the Void born. You fight through each stage by equipping weapon combinations best suited to defeating each enemy. Along the way, you find and salvage more components to expand your ship, from rocket boosters to void turrets. You can also expand the size of your ship, however, the catch is that this increases the area which enemies can attack.

As you progress, you learn more about each enemy type so you can build towards combinations of weapons that stand a better chance of defeating them. When you die, you start from the beginning but can unlock new weapons, utility modules, difficulty settings, and visual customisations to make subsequent runs more successful.

The result is a sequel that doubles down on the responsive strategy and exuberant combat. While building your knowledge of enemies and modules can be challenging, it's exactly that challenge that makes the game so rewarding.
