Play OverviewPlay Overview

Super Chesslike Adventure is a battle adventure game where you play a chess piece on a grand adventure across medieval kingdoms. You lead a band of chess pieces and use their differing movement ability and powerups to defeat enemies. Playing as a chess hero is unusual, but this stands out for how well it infuses chess deeply into its narrative and tactics.

You play Fayette, a pawn in a medieval kingdom where pawns are expected to sacrifice themselves to help the more valuable pieces defeat attackers. Discontent with this social order, you set out on a mission to liberate the kingdoms from their oppressive regimes. As you play, you gather a band of like-minded pieces and command your forces against the loyalists to the crowns.

Play involves exploring the world, talking to characters and completing quests. To do this must battle opposing forces in tactical, turn-based combat. Here you can only move pieces as they do in chess, except pawns can move vertically and horizontally. The challenge is to preempt what your enemies will do and pan accordingly.

As you progress you take on different stage layouts, starting positions, and available chess pieces. You can collect powerups, like a charm that lets you get hit without dying, that add to the strategy. In addition to the main adventure, you can also play against other people online, and create and create your own stages in the level editor.

The result is a game that takes the strategy and challenge of chess and brings it into a grand adventure. Applying preemptive tactics to the stages you face, each with its own layout and piece combination makes for a brain-teasing yet deeply engaging game of considered skill.
