Play Overview
Tiny Islands (2019) is a puzzle game about creating the perfect set of islands. To play you place a series of House, Forest, Sea, Churches (and so on) tiles to meet specific rules to maximise your score. It stands out for the interlocking rules of each type of tile and how their placement is limited to different areas of the map.
It's like a roll-and-write board game in digital form. On each go you can choose from two different tiles, each with varying placement limits. Over the course of the game, you get to draw the boundary of three islands that must accommodate tiles that require dry land - both those you've already placed and leave space for those to come.
The result is a game that's quick to play but fiendish to master. It's clever because of how each tile's scoring requirements must be weighed against penalties and upcoming tiles. In a family, you can compete on the daily challenge to see who can get the highest score.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Tiny Islands 4 weeks ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 12 days ago.
