Play Overview
Treasure Stack (2019) is a competitive puzzle game with platforming elements where you race to match and unlock falling chests before the screen fills up. Your miniature character can carry or grapple the coloured chests into position as they fall and then use colour-coded keys to destroy matching groups of chests. It's an unusual spin on Tetris, where you don't control the falling blocks directly, but rather operate your character to do so.
Chests fall in small groups and come in four colours, gradually stacking up to create the platforms you traverse. The trick is to frantically sort the chests into coloured groups before adding matching keys to unlock them and clear up the screen. It sounds simple, but the catch is that you control a lone running and jumping avatar who can only move blocks by grappling them mid-air or carrying them once they’ve landed.
As you progress, the challenge ramps up as immovable blocks appear that break up your groups and get in your way. On the flip side, special items can put a dent in the ever-growing pile of chests, such as an anvil that drops to crush the chests below. You unlock new looks for your grappling hook and character that are fun to show off to your friends and family when playing competitively in last-man-standing showdowns.
The result is an exuberant take on falling blocks games, where you must combine strategic block placement with precise run-and-jump platforming to maintain efficiency. It extends the usual Tetris challenge by forcing you to divide your attention.
