It's been a busy couple of years running this database of video games for parents, but one the growing team of people here have loved. Each week we scour the internet to find out what parents need to know and then present it for you on the homepage.

It's always been our intention to bring the most important and exciting news we find to you in this newsletter. As you will know if you've been subscribe for any length of time, intention hasn't turned into action. Well, not until now.

Before I make too many more promises I should introduce myself. I'm Andy, dad of thee (14, 17 and 19) from the UK and I founded the database with my school friend Richard Adams. I also wrote the book the preceded and inspired it, Taming Gaming.

Right, onto this month's news...

Positive Gaming Ideas

Lots of really positive games out this month. Here's the pick of the bunch:
  • Stray - Stray is a game about a cat lost in a futuristic city where robots live. You guide your feline friend in and out of buildings, across roads and generally poke your nose in to see what is going on.
  • Turbo Golf Racing - Turbo Golf Racing is an online car game where you race to hit an oversized golf ball into a hole at the end of each circuit. Your car is rocket powered and needs to be manoeuvred to hit the ball through hoops and boosts to get to the finishing hole.
  • MultiVersus - MultiVersus is a fighting game like Smash Brothers where you team up with or against other players. The novelty is this teamwork and the deep catalogue of characters you can fight with. Batman, Shaggy from Scooby Do, Superman, Bugs Bunny and so on.

Video Game Watch

The games you may want to watch out for and check things like the age rating and costs are:
  • Amanda The Adventurer - Amanda The Adventurer is a found footage horror game where you watch tapes from your attic and discover a scary story. What starts looking like a kids TV show soon starts acting strangely with distorted messages and the game playing itself.
  • Poppy Playtime - Poppy Playtime is a horror puzzle adventure game where you are pursued by vengeful toys in an abandoned factory. Amidst the disturbing music and jump scares you hack electrical circuits and collect useful items.
  • Phasmophobia - Phasmophobia is a horror survival game where you and your team investigate paranormal activity. It focuses on creating a realistic world built to get your heart racing, through the interactive ghost hunting equipment and teamwork.
