Play Overview
Cat Detective Albert Wilde (2025) is a mystery adventure where you play a detective cat in a fictional 1930s New York. It combines point-and-click adventuring with a first-person perspective. Solve murders, flirt badly, maybe discover a wormhole to another universe. Also, you’re a cat.
Albert Wilde is down on his luck. No money, no friends and can’t get a girl. Even his landlord won't let him pee on the office wall anymore. When a pole-dancing flamingo finds a dead body in an abandoned warehouse, Albert decides that solving the case will also solve all his other problems.
You play as an anthropomorphic cat, Albert, and explore the city from a cat's perspective. In adventure game style you walk around to find items and talk to the characters you meet for clues. The conversations are dynamic so need some care if you are to get the right information. If you need to you can interrogate suspects to shake out the facts they are less willing to share.
The result is a bizarre blend of film noir, sci-fi, and crude animal jokes. The shaky black-and-white visuals are matched by the downbeat tone and private investigator story. Albert is both loveable and infuriating as you coax him towards redemption. It's all topped off with captivating narration voice-over and peculiar handcrafted animal sounds.
