Play Overview
Expelled! (2025) is a puzzle narrative where you try and escape being blamed for pushing a school prefect out of a window. You play through multiple loops of the day's events, investigating each scene and talking to students and teachers to set things up for the outcome you want. It stands out for being able to intervene in the clockwork story to direct it towards your desired outcome.
It’s 1922 in Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls. You play Verity Amersham, here on a scholarship, and must work to avoid being expelled for murder. By building up a clear picture of who is where when, you can plant evidence and information to either find the culprit or get someone else to take the blame.
As you progress through multiple runs of the story, you gossip, lie, steal and manipulate while ensuring you don’t get caught. In this way, you navigate the school day, talk to other characters, sneak around and work out who actually did the deed. Your actions affect other characters, who remember everything they see and hear. They all have secrets - students and teachers alike.
The result is a fascinating clockwork vignette where other characters move and act independently, remembering everything they see and hear. It’s a mystery to solve, but also an intricate toy box to play with in unexpected ways.
