Play OverviewPlay Overview

Hello Neighbor is a stealth survival game with a horror feel where you try and sneak into the basement of your neighbour’s house to uncover a "horrible secret". The game responds to your strategy by setting traps along paths the player followed in previous attempts.

As you explore the neighbour's house from the first-person perspective, you have to avoid being spotted or being chased down and captured. Creeping around like this leads to high suspense and jump scares. You can stun them and throw objects. Each time you are caught you go back to your house and try again.

There are a few games in this series
  • Hello Neighbor (2017) on PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch
  • Hello Neighbor Hide and Seek (2018) on PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch
  • Secret Neighbor (2019) on PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch
  • Hello Neighbor 2 (2017) (2020) on PC, Xbox Series X

In the Secret Neighbor version of the game, one plays as the neighbour and six as the intruder. The neighbour chooses from several classes and uses everything in their power to prevent intruders from succeeding. The neighbour is initially in disguise and tries to lure other players away from the group. As the game page states, "It feels like that scene from The Thing where characters test each other for who's the traitor. Practice your roleplay skills."

Hello Neighbor 2 introduces a new story. You play as Quentin, a local reporter investigating why people have started to mysteriously disappear in Raven Brooks. It offers the same open-world gameplay as you explore abandoned houses and the open world of Raven Brooks. Computer opponents are more dynamic and offer a greater challenge.

Our examiner, Rich Adams, first checked Hello Neighbor 2 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 5 weeks ago.

Rated PEGI 12 for Violence. Hello Neigbor 2 includes a number of scenes depicting the kidnapping of a child by a man. The man grabs him from behind, covers his mouth with his hand, and then drags him away through a door. The child struggles but shows no signs of injury. There are also sequences in which characters hit or grab at the player's character, causing them to fall over and blackout, without any sight of blood or injuries.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Rated for younger players in the US. Rated ESRB EVERYONE 10+ for Mild Violence. Players investigate homes, examine objects, solve puzzles, and avoid detection by roaming characters (e.g., police officer, cook, hunter). While inside a neighbor's house, players can be suddenly detected and captured, then tossed out of the home. Characters sometimes use shovels and cartoony shotguns to attack players, resulting in brief freeze/stun effects and/or a fade to black (i.e., no deaths occur).
