Play Overview
Jailbreaker (2024) is a retro running and jumping game about escaping prison. It's designed to be really hard, partly because your character moves automatically and you can only control their jumping. It stands out because you can always see what you need to do, but achieving it with just a jump button is fiendishly difficult.
It's a brutally challenging one-button platformer. Your task is to find your way out of your confinement to reach the surface. However, every room of the tower is full of dangerous traps and difficult jumps. Although you only have one button, clever use of it can enable you to not only jump but also temporarily fly, slide up walls, float in bubbles and even perform somersaults
As you progress you discover that the levels get progressively difficult as you go. However, this is a gentle increase to encourage you to learn as you go. Each floor is fairly challenging but bite-sized, and the replay is instantaneous.
The result is a compact challenge of 60 levels full of different mechanics and puzzle-like designs. Each floor is unique, and every world introduces a slew of mechanics to keep you interested. Even completing a single level feels like an achievement.
