Play OverviewPlay Overview

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (2025) is a racing traversal skiing and snowboarding game. Play involves working with the downhill snow mechanics to find the best route without crashing. It stands out for its knife-edge risk-reward challenge that adds substantial multiplayer options (and snow) to the original Lonely Mountains: Downhill game.

You work with the physics to perform tricks, discover shortcuts and beat your previous times down different runs. Along with the single-player mode, you can invite friends and conquer the mountains together. Either way, the joy is the intricacies of controlling your momentum and speed to find the perfect line from top to bottom.

As you progress you discover new routes and shave seconds of your time. Checkpoints mean that you don't have to start from the beginning when you crash (you will crash a lot). In fact, it's this learning by trial and error that the game does best. Exploring the diorama-style mountainsides to traverse them in different (hopefully more efficient ways) is surprisingly satisfying.

The result is a game that is all about creating the knife-edge feel of hurtling down a snowy mountain. Slice through deep snow, skitter over icy lakes or take flight over spectacular jumps. It's approachable for anyone, once you get the hang of the controls. But there is a really high skill ceiling here that can keep you playing for hours.
