Reforj is an open-world adventure like Minecraft where you collect, mine, build and construct structures any way you want. Play involves gliding and running around the vast world to find the resources you need to build. It stands out for its greater focus on freedom and physics which brings gravity and flowing water and wind to the game.

Set in a vast open world, you play an adventurer set on building impressive creations from towering skyscrapers to humble cottages. You must manage resources, items and space. There are two primary game modes: Creative and Survival. In Creative mode, you can freely fly about the world and place unlimited blocks without having to gather them, enabling endless creativity and experimentation. In Survival, you need to explore on foot (initially), gather resources, make tools, and craft the blocks you want to use while fighting off hostile conditions and managing your health.

Progression is determined by how quickly you can gather the resources needed to succeed. The challenge of the game is set by yourself due to the game's adaptability and approachability, letting you start small and then increase the scope and scale of your creations and ambitions as you gain confidence.

The result is a game where the fun lies in the endless optimisations and adjustments you can make to your builds. However, the evolution from games like Minecraft is the detailed changes you can make to each block, providing a challenging yet in-depth sandbox experience.
