Whisper of the House is a cute puzzle narrative game about housekeeping in a strange town where houses conceal mysterious secrets. You imaginatively arrange furniture and decorations to transform rooms according to your employers’ requests and sweep to keep them clean. It stands out from similar interior-design games for the bizarre secrets you discover by snooping through belongings and spaces, that unfold a dark magical story.
You play the town's Master Housekeeper and help people move into their new homes. To do this you orient and position each piece of furniture however you see fit, working with limited space in each room to execute your vision. You also place plants, pictures and other ornaments. Some items change appearance depending on how you use them, for example, you can hang certain objects that would otherwise be lying on the floor.
As you progress, you can stumble across secrets such as hidden rooms filled with bizarre alien creatures or portals. This leads to poking around where you aren’t supposed to and slowly uncovering the secrets behind the town’s occult mystery.
The result is a cute furniture-puzzling game with an unsettling twist. Whether you choose to invest your time in detailing beautiful rooms or working to uncover the dark underworld is up to you.
