Team Structure Styles of Play

These Styles of Play describe how different teams of players and computer controlled characters can play together.

Although there aren't other players or enemies to defeat, in these games you take on the complex, confusing or harsh game world to tame, survive and solve the scenario. Game worlds that you compete against rather work with are those that lean towards creating a hostile environment for the player. You might do this on your own or with another player in either shared-screen or split-screen modes.

In these games, you work with the world, systems and environment of the game to move it forward and develop in different ways. You might do this on your own or with another player in either shared-screen or split-screen modes.

It's common in games for the player to be taking on computer controlled enemies. But there are some games with a computer controlled ally also works on your side. This may be a team of other soldiers who can help you in the fight. Or it can be more specific characters that travel with you and take out certain enemies. Then there are some games where you are able to co-ordinate with and issue orders to your ally player, adding another dimension to both tactics and narrative of the game.
