Disney Illusion Island is a running and jumping game where you play Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald in an original adventure. As you explore, you use their unique abilities to traverse water, land and air. It's Cuphead meets Rayman but with the charm, sound and immersion of a classic Disney cartoon with approachable platforming challenges and puzzles.

NotesAccessibility Notes

You can select how much energy each player has individually. This means you can make a novice play invincible. When playing in co-operative mode you can give the other player lives by giving them a hug in the game. You can also drop a rope down for them to climb if they are stuck.

There are a range of assists:
  • Movement: Activate assists for Jump, Boost Jump and Wall Cling to make these actions easier.
 For example, remove the limit to how long you can cling to the wall.

  • Timing: Adjust the duration of all timed elements in the game, enabling you to match them with your reaction time and avoid frustration.
  • Hints: Turn on visual and audio hints when you're close to specific collectables.

You can adjust the speed, size, colour and opacity of the subtitles. You can make the text different colours for each character (although Mickey's Red on Black text can be hard to read.

You have to press and hold Y button when in range of a swing point. You have to hold Y button when grounded to request a Hug/help from another player. Also need to fast travel on the map.

Bank Progress With Frequent Checkpoints: If you fail you can retry that level or aspect of the game without losing a lot of progress (less than 5 minutes). This is often provided via Frequent Checkpoints combined with restarting without losing time, equipment or score.

Assisted Progress With Boosts: If you fail frequently the game automatically gets easier to ease the likelihood of failure. Or there’s an option to start this happening, like giving more health, lives or power each time you fail. Sometimes called Rubber Banding.

Assisted Progress With Hints: The game notices if you get stuck (or you can press a button) and provides information to help you progress. This can offer hints or tutorials popping up during play. This includes hints after you have died, where it can suggest strategies or difficulty settings to adjust or offer to skip past problematic levels.

ReadingReading

Reading Level

How much reading is required to play the game's main path or story and how complex the language is. The presence of voiced characters doesn't reduce this requirement, as it's recorded as a separate datapoint.

Large Clear Subtitles: Subtitles are large, clear and of good contrast. They are at least 1/20 (46 pixels on 1080 screen) the height of a landscape screen and at least 1/40 height on portrait screens, or can be adjusted to be. We base this on the full line-height, including the space above and below the letters. Considered separately from the general text of the game, the subtitles are large, clear and of good contrast.

All Speech Subtitled (Or No Speech In Game): All spoken content has subtitles, or there is no speech in the game. This means there is no requirement to hear spoken dialogue or narrative to play the game.

Captions

Speaker Indicator: Textual captions indicate who is speaking (or there is only ever one person speaking). This can also be indicated visually in the game with character icons or placing text in speech bubbles next to the person speaking.

Voice Acted

Some Dialogue is Voice Acted: Some of the game dialogue and narrative is voice acted. This reduces the pressure on reading all the dialogue text, although not everything is provided audibly.

NavigationNavigation
