In the distant future, the Space Ark that carries the last human colony is under siege. The galaxy's totalitarian regime sends in two of its best, genetically enhanced soldiers, to eliminate the threat and save the ark. You explore its cavernous areas, hunting for monsters, defeating them with your weaponry, and gathering upgrades to help you on your mission.
Play focuses on traversing the huge ark, running and jumping over huge pitfalls and deadly traps while fighting off enemies with laser guns and an assortment of close-combat melee weapons. While you can play alone, the game is designed from the ground up for two-player cooperative play. Each player can transfer their soul to the other player if they're low on health and has a distinct set of abilities in combat. Experimenting with different strategies and weapon combinations, along with carefully combing every area for hidden items and passages, is essential in giving you an advantage against your foes.
The result is a unique take on the Metroid and Castlevania style of platforming game, where not only is the classic combination of skill, exploration, experimentation, and strategy essential to success, but communication with the other player and close teamwork can play just as important a role in making it through the challenging gauntlet presented to you.
You can play this game in the following styles:
11+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. The game can be quite challenging at times, with lots of enemies and tough platforming sections. You need precise reactions and button presses to succeed. That said, the two-player co-op mode can reduce the skill requirement of one player by letting more experienced gamers play along with younger or less experienced ones.
