Play Overview
Art Academy (2009) is a creative painting game for Nintendo systems, that leads children through step-by-step art lessons. An in-game tutor teaches you to develop basic art skills and techniques. Along with the lessons, there's a free paint mode with all the tools are unlocked. Artwork you create can be displayed in the built-in gallery and exported to SD card.
Originally released as a downloadable app for the DSi console, it has seen several re-releases and variants:
The last two variants mentioned focus on painting characters from Pokémon and Disney/Pixar, respectively, with less teaching on art concepts. In the Wii U version, you can view a timelapse video of your painting and uploaded it to YouTube.
Our examiner, Goran Wallgren, first checked Art Academy 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 2 years ago.
