Batman: Arkham Asylum is an open-world adventure game. It's the first game in the Batman: Arkham series. In the game, the Joker has taken over Arkham Asylum trapping Batman inside and watching him as he tries to escape, sending various enemies after him from the asylum.

You explore areas of Arkham Island after you've unlocked them. While going through the game you'll find a variety of challenges, some have you going toe to toe with a group of thugs, other situations will have you taking a stealthy approach to take out enemies off one by one, and finally you will need to use your detective vision to solve a variety of puzzles. The story offers surprising twists and turns that accentuate the feeling of playing in the world of a Batman comic book.

Batman: Arkham Asylum also offers a challenge mode where you can try to beat your scores and times in different unique challenges that will test your skills as a player. These challenges take key encounters in the game and make them more challenging and provide additional resources for you. This gives you the opportunity to be more creative in how you approach the scenarios.
