Play Overview
Before I Forget (2020) is an exploration adventure, where you play Sunita, a woman alone in a house with early-onset dementia. As you wander from room to room, you discover mysterious objects, each holding a fleeting, fragmented memory. Examine faded postcards, scribbled notes, photographs, and more to uncover Sunita’s past, piece together her life story, and understand her present.
“Where am I?... I don't think I should be here,” says Sunita at one point, “Is this the right place?... What did I come out here for?” It's a game about dementia and what happens when you can't hold onto the things you've done or the people you've loved. "Where would you go, if you could go back in time? I'd stay, just here and now."
With an average playtime of 1 hour, it’s designed to be experienced in one sitting. Sunita’s house is a treasure trove that takes you on a journey where memories are constantly fading and jumbled.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Before I Forget 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 5 months ago.
