Bish Bash Bots (2023) is a strategy action game where you defend your town from an invading robot army. You can play with four friends to bash enemies, upgrade turrets and build gadgets to stop the automaton hoards. It stands out for the varied characters and skills that make team strategy and communication essential to surviving.
The storybook narrative takes you to the distant future where robots are an integral part of everyday life. As is the way with these things, they have malfunctioned and turned against their makers. You play a rag-tag team of heroes with unique abilities (fighting, recharging, building) to defend humanity by the tactical placement of turrets and gadgets (or just bashing them with your giant hammer).
With your friends, you can tackle this in lots of different ways. You need to know your role and play to your character's strengths. Do you support the others, take the fight to the robots or help build defences? Along with the usual tactics, you can also go hands-on to push, shove and bash the robots into pits or toward turrets.
The result is a mix of casual tower defence strategy and all-out brawling. You can play on your own but, like Overcooked, it really comes to life with the co-op multiplayer.
