Play Overview
Clockwork Revolution is a role-play game set in a futuristic steam-powered city in the style of Bioshock Infinite. You play a young rebel and travel through time to alter the city by defeating robots sent to prevent you from changing the course of history. It stands out for how actions in the past directly affect the city's buildings and structures and how its inhabitants create a sense of a living breathing metropolis.
You play a young woman from Avalon, a futuristic Victorian city where everything from robots to the eccentric machines people use to get around and entertain themselves are powered by steam. Upon discovering a strange device that allows you to travel to the city's past, you get in trouble with the city's ruler as you change the past to try and transform the future.
Play involves travelling to different periods of Avalon, interacting with characters and changing the environment in seemingly innocuous ways. These conversations and changes, however, can dramatically affect the world of future Avalon and the way characters behave and think inside it. Pursued by deadly robots and soldiers, you use an assortment of guns to defeat them in fast-paced combat.
The result is a game that plays with the time-travel trope in unusual ways as what you do directly affects the direction of history. Seeing the results of your choices both in the world and the characters makes for an engrossing and entertaining experience.
