Play Overview
Cosmic Collapse (2024) is a puzzle game where you aim to drop planets onto each other so they touch and merge. Based on the similar game Suika, play is simply deciding where to drop each planet and working with the simulated interactions of where they fall so matching ones combine to form bigger planets. It stands out for the simple challenge of matching planets and seeing how long you can last before the screen is full.
In this straightforward yet satisfying game, matching planets of the solar system merge into the next largest one when they touch, awarding points each time this happens. More points are given when larger planets are merged and when multiple merges happen in one turn. The catch is that once the screen fills up, the round ends and you have to start again. This creates a game requiring forward-thinking in order to reach high scores since larger planets take up more space.
As you progress you learn to use the simulated physics to nudge planets around with calculated drops. Do that perfectly and you can trigger chain merges for higher scores. If you get stuck you can use one of your limited number of missiles to destroy a planet of your choice.
The result is a game that is easy to enjoy and play casually while requiring a surprising amount of skill and planning to achieve a high score.
