Play OverviewPlay Overview

Enshrouded (2024) is a role-playing action game where you work with your friends to explore a corrupted world full of monsters to build extravagant bases. As you embrace the darkness, you must defeat the forces of evil, grow in strength, and gather resources to expand your base from a humble beginning to a sprawling castle. It stands out for how much freedom you have to go where you want in the huge world, build what you want, and shape your hero in unique and surprising ways.

You play as a lone warrior in the ruins of an ancient fantasy kingdom, where much of the land has been tainted by a mysterious and evil Shroud. You must survive and make a life in this world crawling with monsters, dragons, and other evil beings. In this way, you grow in strength and nurture your magical flame to press deeper into the Shroud and repel the darkness. To mark and defend this progress you create impressive structures, from forts to palaces, using the resources and materials you find.

Play is a mix of exploration, fast-paced melee and long-range combat, base-building and resource gathering. Fights rely on weapons such as swords and bows, and magical spells. As you advance, you can select from a myriad of upgrades and abilities. Experimenting with different character builds is essential to finding an efficient way forward. You also find ruined structures and dungeons you can explore for resources, which you can craft into new weapons, gear, or use to build and furnish your creations.

The result is a game that combines intricate base-building, a Zelda-style sense of freedom to explore, adventure, and fight enemies, and a comprehensive selection of upgrades and skills. This ability to do and go where you want and create structures limited only by your imagination makes for a rewarding and entertaining game.
