Play Overview
Haiku, The Robot (2022) is a running and jumping game set in a world full of corrupt robots and machinery. You explore, fight fierce machines, and befriend quirky robots as you search for answers to the mysteries of the world around you. It's a really well-made game with lovely GameBoy-inspired pixel art.
Play involves making difficult jumps and fighting enemy robots to gain access to more and more of the world. What's nice is that you can pick your own path through a vast interconnected area. As you go you map these uncharted paths to discover more of the world.
Fights are action-based and you need to dodge, dash, and slash to win the battles against increasingly fierce-looking machines. It's tough at times but not as hard as similar games like Ori and the Blind Forest. As you progress you gain robot items and abilities that enable you to get to previously inaccessible areas.
The result is a classic side-scrolling action game. It's a lot of fun to jump, zip, and blink past challenging platforming obstacles. Along the way you get to know a wide cast of characters who help you on your way (and you meet again and again) and flesh out the mysterious world.
