Play Overview
Hollow Knight: Silksong (2025) is an action platform game and the sequel to Hollow Knight. Play involves exploring a vast, interconnected world of insects haunted, battling enemies, facing bosses and acquiring tools and abilities to ascend toward the kingdom’s peak. It stands out for the living, breathing (and political) world it invites you to battle through, and the punishing challenge of dealing with its tightly designed levels.
You play Hornet, who is captured and taken to a new kingdom called Pharloom. As her, you set about exploring this unfamiliar land, uncover mysteries, meet local characters and take on quests. In this way, you slowly unlock tools and abilities to enable you to dig deeper into the world - and stand more of a chance against the unrelenting enemies and bosses.
As you progress, you gain new traversal and combat moves along with the tools to recover health and upgrade abilities. Along the way, you work to complete quests that provide structure and rewards for exploration. The difficulty, environments, and enemy designs gradually become more complex and challenging, pushing you to master Hornet’s agility, your upgrades, and the game’s mechanics.
The result is a sequel that retains the atmosphere and challenge of Hollow Knight while expanding in scale with more enemies and bosses. It's unforgiving, even mean at times, but this is a part of the attraction to a game that has an avid following and fan base.
