Play OverviewPlay Overview

Holovista (2020) is an adventure game where you play by taking and sharing photographs. You play as Carmen an up-and-coming architect who is tasked to live in and take photographs at a mysterious mansion. Your job is to take photographs of specific objects and post some to the in-game social media feed, where Carmen’s friends comment and post their updates. Additionally, you will talk with other characters through the in-game messaging system.

In doing this you help Carmen solve the mysteries of the mansion, learn about herself, and build on her relationships with her friends and family. Almost no part of the gameplay is timed or limited, so you can revisit locations, social media posts, and messages. The story and events quickly grow serious and address topics around mental health, death, and religion, among others.

You can revisit rooms after taking the required photographs to find additional objects. Finding all the objects in a room before advancing the story will allow access to private social media posts Carmen creates for herself.

Not rated by PEGI or ESRB. But rated 12+ in the Apple App Store for Mild Horror/Fear and Mature/Suggestive Themes. Profanity or Crude Humor. Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References.

In addition to the rating, given much of the topics presented and addressed in the game, parents may want to reference the Content Warning section in game or on the developer website.

Skill Level

10+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. You need to be able to move around the game spaces and observe what you find in good detail. Finding the required photos takes patience and persistence. To follow the story players need to interpret what they find in the world and its implications.
