Play OverviewPlay Overview

I Wanna Maker (2020) is a running and jumping game where you create unique levels and share them with other players. With over 1000 levels to play, all made by different people across the world, it offers a fresh platforming challenge with a wide range of difficulties to pick from, although the focus is usually on extremely precise timing and fast reactions.

Like in Super Mario Maker, you have a wide variety of tools to create levels, from spikes to moving platforms, to custom boss battles. By experimenting with the level editor functions you can learn how to create levels that present a unique challenge for the player.

Many of the levels are intentionally very challenging and have a strong focus on very precise jumps, double jumps, and wall jumps, where you only have a very short window of opportunity to react. All the levels are player-made, and you can play whatever level you want immediately and can sort them by difficulty, release date and rating. Many have checkpoints throughout, which you can shoot to respawn back there when you die.

It's an enjoyable way to dip your toe in game creation. But it really stands out for the vibrant community of other players making their own levels.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked I Wanna Maker 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 20 months ago.
