Lake (2021) is a narrative adventure where you play Meredith Weiss on a career break in 1986 while she returns to her hometown and ends up delivering the mail. As you talk to locals, meet up with old school friends and even fan a few romantic flames from your past, you discover a story about life's changing seasons.
The game loops around delivering mail, navigating and talking to people as you drop off their packages. This is punctuated with an exploration of different locations. How you play the game and make choices about interactions, affects your character. But there's no one path that is better than the others. It's a game of competing options that lead to different outcomes.
"Lake is a game of second chances," says the developer. Along with the relaxing location, the pressure is reduced by offering players a chance to change their minds. and correct any "mistakes" they may fear they have made.
