Play OverviewPlay Overview

LocoRoco (2006) is a traversal puzzle game in a world of plants and creatures to investigate. The novelty, besides the character’s singing and cute aesthetic, is that you control the game with just two buttons, tilting and bumping your characters through each level.

It's a platform game where you tilt the world with the left and right buttons on the controller in order to manoeuvre the LocoRoco, coloured jelly-like characters, through each level. You have to avoid the spider-like enemies and collect ever more LocoRoco in your group. You can grow bigger by eating special berries, and then can be split and rejoined to pass the LocoRoco through narrow spaces.

  • LocoRoco Cocoreccho (PlayStation 3)
  • LocoRoco 2 (PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita)
  • LocoRoco Midnight Carnival (PlayStation Portable)
  • LocoRoco Remastered (PlayStation 4)

Rolando is a similar game available on iOS and Android. Although it plays in a similar fashion, by tilting to traverse the world its characters are hard rather than squishy like LocoRoco.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked LocoRoco 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 5 months ago.
